Graduation Thesis - High Performance Fibre-Reinforced Concrete (HPFRC) for Structural Strengthening
In recent years the attention towards the restoration and strengthening of existing buildings built with reinforced concrete has gradually increased, especially because of the existence of numerous structures built according to outdated standards that consequently do not respect the requirements under current regulations. In order to increase the useful life of buildings or to make seismic adjustments, restoration of the bearing capacities or also as a result of increases in overloads, the increase of the carrying capacity of existing structures becomes fundamental, with specific reference to buildings built before the 60s of the twentieth century. The usual strengthening techniques are characterized by the use of thick reinforced concrete jackets, which cause an excessive increase in the dimensions of the buildings. It was studied the possibility of being able to moderate appreciably the thickness of this type of strengthening through the use of jackets made with High Performance Fibre-Reinforced Concrete (HPFRC). According to diagnostic investigations carried out on many buildings, it was noticed that in the past it was often used scarce quality concrete and in addition to problems related to the need for seismic improvement or adaptation, there is a need to provide a significant increase in the bearing capacity of the gravitational loads. This thesis focuses on the increase of resistance on reinforced concrete elements that have a low percentage of reinforcement or inadequate shear reinforcement, using High Performance Fibre-Reinforced Concrete jackets of reduced thickness.
Visuele cryptografie met transparanten
In deze handleiding worden twee technieken beschreven voor visuele cryptografie. Bij de eerste techniek worden twee transparanten met schijnbaar willekeurige patronen van zwarte blokjes over elkaar geschoven om een geheime afbeelding tevoorschijn te laten komen. De tweede techniek gebruikt twee afbeeldingen in grijstinten die transparant over elkaar geschoven worden om een geheime afbeelding op te roepen. De enige voorkennis die nodig is om deze technieken te kunnen uitvoeren, is het gebruik van een rekenblad (hier: Excel) en van een fotobewerkingsprogramma.

PSEUDOREST: O REST como ele não é!
The purpose of this study is to perform an analysis on a discussion of REST creator Roy Thomas Fielding, where he exposes a critique of implementations that claim to use the architectural model proposed in his thesis. Implementations of APIs that manifest themselves as RESTFUL are used as object of study. Architectural Constraints are used which refer to important features of the model to verify these implementations, where they must succeed in these comparisons with the constraints, so that they can prove to implement the model. The conclusion is that there are in fact several implementations that are improperly named, where they have several similarities to the model in their implementation, but do not agree with the constraints that must be implemented so that it can be considered an instance of the model.
Modélisation de l’évacuation d’un immeuble en cas d’incendie
When an issue arises in a building, people's evacuation is a recurring challenge. We wondered whether we could make a realistic simulation of people’s evacuation based on a simple physical model. First, we elaborated this model and then we simulate the people’s comportment on MATLAB. We could conclude that our simulation is enough to describe the general comportment of people.
